As the rumors surrounding MS Dhoni potentially playing in the Indian Premier League (IPL) as an uncapped player continue to swirl, it is becoming increasingly likely that the former Chennai Super Kings (CSK) star may explore opportunities in leagues outside of India.

The T10 leagues have gained traction in recent years, particularly through the Abu Dhabi T10 League. When asked about the possibility of MS Dhoni featuring in the league, T10 Global Founder and Chairman Saji Ul Mulk stated that it could be a “possibility” if the World Cup-winning captain decides to pursue it.

“Absolutely, I think outside of the top level of international cricketers playing, current India internationals are not allowed to play outside of the Indian Premier League. The recently retired players, almost all the big names of India, have come to play T10. So yes, we can expect MS Dhoni to be playing T10 when he makes up his mind,” Shaji told ANI.

The 2024 Abu Dhabi T10 is poised to be the largest edition yet, featuring a total of 179 stars competing in the tournament. Previously, notable players such as David Warner and former Indian stars like Robin Uthappa, Suresh Raina, and Irfan Pathan have also participated in this exciting event.

With the deadline for IPL retentions set for October 31, the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are looking to finalize their list before heading into the Mega Auction.

This time, according to the new rules established by the BCCI, each franchise can retain up to five players and can utilize the Right To Match (RTM) option during the auction concerning player retentions.

The first player can be retained for ₹18 crores, while the second can be retained for ₹14 crores, followed by ₹11 crores for the third player. The subsequent slots can be secured at ₹18 crores and ₹14 crores, respectively.

However, since MS Dhoni hasn’t played an international match in the last five years—despite retiring in 2020—there is a possibility that he could be retained as an uncapped player for a lower price of ₹4 crores.
