Lamine Yamal's father, who is the parent of Barcelona and Spain winger, is currently hospitalized after being stabbed last night.

Mounir Nasraoui, 35, suffered multiple stab wounds during an altercation at around 9pm in the Rocafonda district of Mataro, a town north-east of Barcelona.

Nasraoui was rushed to Can Ruti Hospital where his initial prognosis was said to be serious. At around midnight, Nasraoui’s condition was updated to stable.

Earlier on Wednesday, police officers were forced to intervene as three individuals heckled and threw water at Nasraoui as he walked along the street with his dog.

In a video filmed by a person from an apartment close to the scene, Nasraoui was seen being led away by a man before he spoke to two police officers.

The incident is now being investigated by Mossos d’Esquadra, the police force in Catalonia, to determine whether the two incidents are linked.

At 11.30pm on Wednesday evening, Mossos d’Esquadra confirmed the stabbing and said three people have been arrested.

Nasraoui remained in hospital early Thursday morning accompanied by a brother, who is said to have been in constant contact with Yamal.

The Barcelona winger’s representatives also travelled to the hospital, while the family have received support from the club’s hierarchy.

In the early hours of Thursday morning, more relatives of Nasraoui were seen arriving at the hospital along with Alejandro Echevarria, a senior advisor to Barcelona president Joan Laporta.

Yamal was one of Spain’s star players as he helped La Roja beat England in the final of Euro 2024 last month.

Yamal celebrated with his father on the pitch following the 2-1 win over the Three Lions.

The 17-year-old is currently preparing for Barcelona’s opening game of the new La Liga season away to Valencia on Saturday.
