Chelsea equal Premier League record with stunning 6-2 victory over Wolves

Enzo Maresca claimed his maiden Premier League triumph as Chelsea unleashed a dominant 6-2 triumph on the road against Wolves.

The Italian endured a nightmare top-flight club debut, as Pep Guardiola's Manchester City eased to a 2-0 win at Stamford Bridge last weekend, but his team rallied superbly at Molineux.

Despite the ongoing transfer turmoil for the Blues, with more sales planned before the EPL transfer window closes on August 30, Maresca will be relieved to get his tenure up and running.

There is a real sense of Chelsea being capable of dismantling Premier League teams in ruthless fashion but their star studded squad still needs to find balance.

However, their trip to the West Midlands was a real show of attacking power, as Noni Madueke netted a hat trick, alongside goals from Cole Palmer, Nicolas Jackson and first goal since re-joining the club for Joao Felix.

The travelling Blues were jubilant in the away end as the team matched a club Premier League record at full time.

Only twice before have Chelsea been involved in a Premier League game with eight goals scored, including 8-0 home wins over Wigan Athletic and Aston Villa in 2010 and 2012 respectively.

However, it is the first time they have scored six Premier League goals away from home since 2022, following a 6-0 victory at Southampton, and the fourth time they have managed the feat in EPL history.

Up next for Maresca is a UEFA Conference League playoff second leg at Servette following a 2-0 first leg win.
